The phone number there is 631.758.2900. \nAbout the Graduation Ceremony\nThe pinning ceremony is a tradition that stems from Florence Nightingale when she started graduating nurses. It’s about honoring and celebrating Practical Nursing students prior to their officially entering the profession of nursing. \nThis time honored nursing school tradition is often more meaningful than the graduation ceremony. It signifies the official initiation into the world of nursing. \nThe ceremony is rich with symbolism. The modern ceremony dates back to the 1860’s when Florence Nightingale\, the founder of modern nursing\, was awarded the Red Cross of St. George in recognition of her tireless service to the injured during the Crimean War. \nTo share the honor\, she in turn presented a medal of excellence to her brightest graduates. By 1916\, the practice of pinning new graduates was standard throughout the United States. \nThe pinning of Practical Nursing students who are about to graduate is a rite of passage and precedes their exam to become a fully licensed practical nurse. \nIn the full knowledge of the task I am undertaking\, I promise to take care of the sick with all the skill and understanding I possess\, without regard to race\, creed\, color\, politics\, or social status\, sparing no effort to conserve life\, to alleviate suffering\, and promote health.\nThe ceremony has always been packed with loved ones\, friends\, fellow classmates\, and faculty. DESCRIPTION:Hunter Business School administers onsite certification exams for Medical Assistant\, Phlebotomy Technician\, ECG (EKG) Technician\, and Insurance and Coding Specialist through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). For tests through other certifying agencies—the American Association of Medical Assistants or American Medical Technologists—please see Mark Tramontana or tap to email him. \nHunter will reimburse students $90 toward the registration fee for any of the Medical Assistant exams (excludes exams that are only for phlebotomy and/or only for EKG) as long as the following criteria have been met. Graduates must have \n\n\nachieved attendance of at least 90 percent by the last day of the program (includes externship).\npassed the precertification exam that is part of the final Certification Review with Career Development class with a score of 80 or higher.\na cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 (C) by the last day of class prior to externship.\nplanned to take the certification test within six months from the last day of externship.\nsatisfied all financial obligations with the school.\npassed the certification exam.
