The following items earn you points in our consideration of your request to enter Hunter’s Practical Nursing program. The maximum number of points you may garner is 20.

Degrees/Diplomas – An associate degree is worth 2 points, a bachelor’s degree 3 points, and a master’s degree 4 points.

College – If you attended college, but did not graduate, you earn 1 point, as long as you successfully completed at least one semester with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

TEAS Test – Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS Test) is a standardized, multiple choice exam for students applying for nursing school. Speak to your Admissions representative for instructions about taking the test.

In the application process, if you earn between 58.7% and 60.0% on the test, you will be awarded 1 point; 61.0% to 64.0% is worth 2 points; 65.0% to 67.0% is worth 3 points; 68.0% to 70.0% is worth 4 points; and 70.0% or better is worth 5 points.

Each time you retake the test, a point is deducted from your admissions score.

Health Care Certifications – If you have any health care related certifications or proof of coursework, this is worth 1 point. Examples are Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Assistant, Medical Assistant, and Home Health Aide.

Health Care Experience – If you can verify current patient care employment from your employer on company or facility letterhead, this is worth 1 point.
