Hunter’s nursing students travel to Washington, D.C., today for the NursesTakeDC Rally.
According to NursesTakeDC.com, the rally comprises “the largest group of health professionals, licensed nurses, [who] are witnesses to our country’s fragmented healthcare system…
“Today’s delivery system fails to focus on the proper staffing mix to produce quality patient outcomes. Utilizing nurses whose education and skills provide care that improves patient outcomes and saves money [is achievable]—if the staffing plan includes adequate numbers of licensed nurses and support staff.
“Regulation mandating adequate numbers of licensed nurses to work environments will take lobbying legislators to support such in the law. Revealing the value [of] nursing will require a politically savvy nurse who can articulate to legislators, colleagues and the public that assuring adequate numbers of nurses are essential to providing safe, cost-effective patient care.”
Have a safe trip, Practical Nursing students!
