What Is a Technical School?

Did you graduate high school, or are you an adult learner looking to change careers? You have options. Only some people find attending a traditional 4-year college right for them. If you want to start working within months rather than years, want to learn a vocation, or have other responsibilities requiring a balanced educational experience, consider attending a technical school. So, what is a technical school?

What Is a Technical School?

A technical school, also known as a vocational or trade school, offers a specific curriculum for students to prepare for entry-level positions in healthcare, business, information technology, trades, and other vocational roles. Courses focus on the knowledge and experience needed to start working after graduation without needing electives or general education classes.

How Long are Technical School Programs?

Most technical school programs can be completed in less than a year, although some more advanced programs take up to 2 years. It is much faster than most traditional 4-year colleges.
