October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a chance to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
Make a difference! Spread the word about mammograms and encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to get involved.
So, grab a sweet treat at the bake sale.
It features the best bakers at Hunter. All proceeds from the bake sale, presented by Student Council, are being donated to METAvivor, dedicated to the specific fight of women and men living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, “Breast cancer starts when cells in the breast begin to grow out of control. These cells usually form a tumor that can often be seen on an x-ray or felt as a lump.
“The tumor is malignant (cancer) if the cells can grow into (invade) surrounding tissues or spread (metastasize) to distant areas of the body. Breast cancer occurs almost entirely in women, but men can get breast cancer, too.”
